German entrepreneur Nicole Junkermann has publicly addressed her past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, expressing regret and sympathy for his victims. The statement comes years after their association was first revealed, a period during which she has kept a low profile while continuing her business activities.

Junkermann, born in Düsseldorf in 1975, is best known for founding NJF Capital and leading Omnium International, an investment firm focused on technology and healthcare.

Junkermann's connection to Epstein spanned nearly two decades, with hundreds of emails exchanged between them. In these messages, she referred to him affectionately, once writing, 'You make me smile, you're in my heart' and calling him 'baby'. She also sought his advice on personal matters, including hiring an assistant.

Epstein died in his prison cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. A year earlier, Junkermann had privately expressed concern in a 2019 email about the timing of his legal troubles, noting the heightened scrutiny of the #MeToo movement.

Following the public revelation of their relationship, Junkermann stepped down from several high-profile roles. These included her position as a trustee at the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and a visiting professorship at Lancaster University. Despite this, she remained active in her investment firm, maintaining networks in Europe and the US, with ties to figures like Bill Gates and Israeli tech investors.

Married to Italian count and oil billionaire Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti, Junkermann has largely avoided the spotlight since the controversy. By March 2026, no major new public developments or expansions in her business ventures had been reported.

Junkermann's recent statement marks the first time she has directly acknowledged her relationship with Epstein. Her decision to step back from public roles reflects the ongoing impact of the association. Meanwhile, her investment firm continues to operate, though without significant new announcements in recent years.
