"Thankful to have survived" - NFL professional athlete requires conclusion to playing career due to emergency operation.

Mind-blowing news from America.

Price started off his statement on Instagram, "In a flash, everything can be taken away from you."

He elaborated, "On April 24th, I underwent an urgent surgery because of a pulmonary embolism that had lodged itself in both of my lungs. As a healthy 29-year-old, a sudden pulmonary embolism with no other medical cause is alarming. I'm incredibly thankful I'm still alive today."

The player went on to say, "However, I have to step down from the NFL because the risk of internal bleeding during the intake of blood thinners is massive."

Price was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 2018 draft. After that, he played for the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals. He was also in the training camp of the Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, and New Orleans Saints. He was part of 69 games for these teams. During his college days, he was awarded the Rimington Trophy in 2017 for the most outstanding center.

Towards the end, Price thanked his teammates, "I'm truly blessed to have played in some of the most fabulous stadiums in the world. I'm grateful for training and playing with incredible athletes who continue to be recognized with Pro Bowl, All-Pro, and Hall of Fame distinctions."

Throughout his career, Price earned roughly $12.8 million. Since he's been in the league since 2018, the NFL will provide his healthcare benefits for the next five years. This also covers his family. Moreover, the league will pay Price a small pension when he turns 65.
