Newly unveiled: Polestar's four-door, high-performance luxury touring vehicle, the Polestar 5
The Swedish electric car brand, Polestar, has announced the release of its latest creation – the Polestar 5. This four-door performance Grand Tourer promises an unparalleled driving experience, blending sleek design, cutting-edge technology, and sustainability.
The Polestar 5 boasts a bold, 5-metre long design with modern, minimalist surfacing, inspired by aviation. Its low nose is adorned with Polestar's signature dual blade headlights and a unique front suspension design, giving it a distinctive look on the road.
Inside, the Polestar 5's cabin is a testament to innovative design and eco-consciousness. The interior features natural fibre materials, including a bio-based alternative to carbon-fibre, made from flax. The center console includes a lockable storage compartment and a rotary audio controller for the 14.5-inch portrait center display screen.
The Polestar 5 is equipped with advanced safety features. Interior radars are used to detect the number, position, and type of occupants, allowing the car to deploy the correct safety measures in the event of an accident. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are also included, featuring the SmartZone, sensors, radar, and a forward-facing parking camera.
The Polestar 5 is available with two models: the Polestar 5 Dual motor and the Polestar 5 Performance. The Dual motor offers a range of up to 670 km (416 miles WLTP) on a single charge, while the Performance model can drive for up to 565 km (351 miles WLTP). Both models are powered by an in-house developed electric rear motor, contributing up to 450 kW and 660 Nm to the Performance's total power output of 650 kW and 1,015 Nm.
The Polestar 5's audio system can be either the Polestar High Performance Audio system with 10 speakers or the Bowers & Wilkins 21-speaker audio system. Laser-line ambient lighting wraps around the cabin and combined with Active Road Noise Cancellation provides a first-class cabin experience.
The Polestar 5 is available in six colour choices, including two matte paint options. It also features the largest panoramic glass roof of any Polestar so far. The rear seat space has been maximized without compromising design by moving the rear header structure and using a digital rear view mirror and virtual rear window.
The collaboration for the seats in the new Polestar 5 model was made with the company Recaro. The front seats were designed in cooperation with Recaro, offering a low hip point, supportive cushions, and typical Swedish comfort.
The Polestar 5's center display runs a Polestar specific Android Automotive operating system with Google built-in. The display features four dynamic tiles that can be customized to the user's choice of function. The Polestar 5's Pilot Assist function adjusts the vehicle's speed and position in its chosen lane at speeds of up to 150 km/h.
Michael Lohscheller, Polestar CEO, described the Polestar 5 as a realization of the brand's future design, technology, and sustainability vision. The Polestar 5 is now on sale in the UK, priced from £89,500 for the Polestar 5 Dual motor Launch edition and £104,900 for the Polestar 5 Performance Launch edition. It is also available to order now, with the Polestar 5 Dual motor priced at an indicative launch price of EUR 119,900 and the Polestar 5 Performance priced at an indicative launch price of EUR 142,900.
The Polestar 5 is based on the Precept concept, first unveiled in 2020. With its combination of style, technology, and sustainability, the Polestar 5 is set to redefine the electric Grand Tourer market.
