Newcastle United Break Transfer Record with Signing of German Forward Nick Woltemade

Newcastle United have made a significant move in the transfer market, signing German forward Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in a club-record deal worth €80 million (£69m). The deal eclipses the £63 million Newcastle paid for Sweden striker Alexander Isak three years ago.

Woltemade, who has been capped twice by Germany, has proven himself to be a real threat in one of Europe's top leagues. Last season, he scored an impressive 17 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions for Stuttgart.

The 23-year-old, who made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 17 for Werder Bremen, has expressed a positive feeling about joining Newcastle United. He feels welcomed by the club and considers it like family. Woltemade believes he can find his best level under the head coach at Newcastle United.

Manager Eddie Howe is delighted to have signed Woltemade, stating he fits the profile for the attacking options Newcastle have been looking for. However, Woltemade will not be able to make his debut in Newcastle's away game against Leeds United later on Saturday, as he has not been registered in time.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have cancelled Nicolas Jackson's loan move to Bayern Munich. The German football club FC Bayern Munich sought to take Jackson on loan from Chelsea during the 2025 transfer period after Liam Delap's injury. The transfer negotiations were complex, with the deal briefly breaking down before Bayern finally committed to Jackson. A year-long loan for Jackson with an option for Bayern Munich to buy for £56m had been agreed.

Unfortunately, Liam Delap has sustained a hamstring problem and will be out for 6 to 8 weeks. This injury could potentially open up more opportunities for Woltemade in his new team.

Another notable transfer on Saturday was Christopher Nkunku's £36 million move to AC Milan.

Interestingly, Woltemade's arrival at Newcastle United may mean a quick adaptation is required, as Alexander Isak is unavailable due to his pursuit of a move to Liverpool.

Woltemade had a good impression from the first contact with the club and believes he can make a significant impact at St. James' Park. The club showed interest in Woltemade and had big plans for him. As the new season unfolds, fans and pundits alike will be eager to see how Woltemade performs in the Premier League.
