New ZDF drama Simply Elli brings Alpine rescues and ADHD struggles to life
A new medical drama, Simply Elli, is set to premiere on ZDF. The show follows Elli Kempfer, a young paramedic starting her first day at the Karwendel Nord rescue station. Her journey unfolds in the fictional mountain village of Steinau, surrounded by the stunning Karwendel range.
Filming took place across several real Alpine locations, including Mittenwald, St. Johann in Tirol, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Other scenes were shot in Grainau, Murnau am Staffelsee, Oberammergau, and Füssen. The breathtaking mountain backdrop became part of the story, with lead actress Klara Deutschmann describing the views as calming during production.
Elli's character lives with ADHD, a trait that influences her approach to emergency work. The cast also features Sebastian Griegel and Rainer Bock, bringing depth to the series. While *Simply Elli* shares a mountainous setting with *Die Maiwald*, its focus remains on Elli's challenges and growth as a paramedic.
The series will air on ZDF, offering viewers a mix of medical drama and Alpine scenery. Elli's first day on the job marks the beginning of her professional and personal journey. The show's real-world filming locations add authenticity to its fictional mountain setting.
