New Yorker Wins Record $3M Jackpot While Reprinting a Tax Form
A New York man has struck gold at Empire City Casino after landing a record-breaking jackpot. Barnett T. walked away with nearly $3 million while simply reprinting a tax form. The win marks the largest payout in the casino's history. The life-changing moment happened on a Thursday as Barnett visited the casino's player services desk. He had stopped by to reprint a W-2 form when he decided to try his luck on an IGT Wheel of Fortune Triple Stars slot machine. The reels aligned in his favour, awarding him a $2,995,532 progressive jackpot.
This latest win adds to Barnett's recent streak of good fortune. Just months earlier, he had collected over $46,000 at the same casino. His latest victory now places him in Empire City's exclusive 'millionaires club', a group previously led by Theresa P., who secured two separate million-dollar jackpots within five months, including a $2,919,162 prize.
Following his win, MGM Resorts recognised Barnett's achievement with an upgrade in the MGM Rewards loyalty programme. The casino has not released details on how many players currently hold membership in the 'millionaires club' or the scale of other major jackpots in recent years. Barnett plans to use most of his winnings for investments and a holiday with his wife. He is also considering buying a second home in the Poconos. The jackpot remains the highest single payout ever recorded at Empire City Casino.
