New York Lottery sales surge 9% as Powerball jackpots top $500M

The New York Lottery has seen a sharp rise in sales over the past month. Between 30 August and 27 September 2023, total revenue climbed by 9%, reaching £658.8 million. A major driver of this increase was the surge in Powerball ticket purchases.

Powerball sales jumped by 15% in the four weeks leading up to 27 September. This growth far outpaced other lottery games, with Lotto rising by just 3% and Cash4Life increasing by 1%. The spike in demand coincided with Powerball jackpots soaring above $500 million.

Overall, the New York Lottery's total sales hit £658.8 million during this period. The strong performance was largely due to the popularity of Powerball, which attracted more players as the prize pool grew.

The 9% rise in lottery sales marks a notable uptick for the New York Lottery. Powerball's record jackpots played a key role in boosting revenue. The trend suggests that large prize pools continue to draw significant player interest.
