New UK app lets citizens lobby MPs for fairer Bitcoin policies

A new app has launched to help UK citizens push for better Bitcoin policies. Bitcoin Policy UK, a campaign group, developed the tool to make it easier for people to contact their MPs about key issues. The organisation hopes to influence decisions in Westminster that will shape the future of Bitcoin in Britain. The app simplifies advocacy by letting users pick from four main topics: opposing central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), challenging the FCA's classification of Bitcoin, improving tax rules, and pushing for a national Bitcoin reserve. Once a topic is selected, the system generates a ready-made letter for the user.

Privacy remains a priority, as the app does not ask for full addresses or phone numbers. Users can then send the letter directly to their MP through the app or download it to send manually. Bitcoin Policy UK was founded in 2022 by CEO Susie Violet Ward. The group argues that the UK has so far neglected Bitcoin, resulting in unclear regulations and tax policies that hinder innovation. Ward believes clearer, fairer rules would benefit both users and the wider economy. The organisation's success may depend on how many Britons engage with the tool. While no official user numbers have been released, the app's launch comes at a critical time for Bitcoin policy in the UK.

The app removes barriers for citizens who want to influence Bitcoin policy but may not know where to start. By streamlining contact with MPs, Bitcoin Policy UK aims to ensure more voices are heard in Westminster. The outcome of these efforts could determine whether the UK adopts more supportive Bitcoin regulations in the coming years.
