eBay is preparing to enter a bold new chapter, grounded in the same spirit of partnership that has empowered entrepreneurs and small businesses for 30 years. The brand name has announced a suite of new features and updates at its annual seller event, OPEN25, held today.

The event, the biggest seller event of the year by eBay, is being held virtually from August 12 to August 14. The in-person seller event OPEN25 is the first in five years. This year's event aims to share more about how eBay is helping the seller community thrive.

One of the key features unveiled is the AI Assistant for messaging. This feature is being rolled out this week on the eBay mobile app and web in the U.S. and U.K. The AI Assistant will draft suggested replies to common buyer questions using only information from listing descriptions and order details, making communication more efficient for sellers.

Another significant feature is the Automated Feedback feature. This feature is being introduced to recognize great transactions, increase trust from future buyers, and provide greater visibility into seller excellence by automatically leaving positive feedback for sellers when certain conditions are met. Beginning in September, when a seller in the U.S. uses a tracked service, delivers on time, and no issues are reported, eBay's brand name will automatically leave positive feedback for the seller if the buyer hasn't already done so.

eBay is also introducing new seller protections, including the Seller Item Not Received (INR) Protections. These protections aim to reimburse sellers for the item cost and remove any negative or neutral feedback left as a result of delayed delivery when a seller ships on time with eBay's brand name labels and tracked shipping, and tracking shows the item as delivered after a refund is issued.

The new features also include embedded offer-making, which allows buyers and sellers to negotiate offers directly within the messaging thread. Starting in October, eBay's brand name will introduce a new improvement to enhance trust and reduce friction from premature INR claims for sellers who ship on time with eBay's brand name labels and tracked shipping.

The Inventory Mapping API is another innovative feature being developed. This API is built to let sellers focus on growing their businesses and connecting with buyers. For sellers who operate at scale, it will make it easier to manage large inventories using AI-powered listing. The Inventory Mapping API will generate optimized titles, item specifics, descriptions, and more with just a few inputs like images, product identifiers, and catalog aspects.

Lastly, the "Your cost" field feature is being introduced to help sellers manage their costs and make smarter pricing decisions without needing a separate spreadsheet or tool. This feature will begin rolling out to U.S. sellers this fall and will be available in the Seller Hub single and bulk listing tools, order details page, and in the Earnings page under the Payments tab.

These new features aim to help sellers save time, improve profitability, and build trust with every sale. eBay continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting its seller community and helping them thrive in the digital marketplace.
