New Police Officers and Government Inspectors Join Dortmund's Force

Dortmund, Germany - On September 1, 2025, Dortmund Police President Gregor Lange welcomed 172 new recruits to the city's police force at the Regional Training Center in Dortmund-Aplerbeck. The new officers include 49 police officers transferred from other authorities and 8 government inspectors, bringing the total number of employees at the PP Dortmund to 3,945, including 438 government employees.

The new officers will immediately reinforce the locations in Dortmund and LΓΌnen, responsible for the safety of nearly 700,000 people. In times of turmoil, both internally and externally, people seek closeness to the police and need them as a fixed point and guarantee for their security and security feeling.

Gregor Lange emphasized the importance of earning the trust of the people and acting professionally, responsibly, and with consideration for the needs and peculiarities of the people. He acknowledged that people critically examine the police's actions in these times.

The core tasks of the new police officers in Dortmund include investigating and preventing criminal offenses, traffic accident prevention, combating extremism, child pornography, fostering dialogue and trust with a diverse society, and maintaining a visible presence in the city center and northern city center. The jurisdiction of the Dortmund Police Presidium includes over 500 kilometers of highways.

The ceremony concluded with Gregor Lange administering the oath of office to the newly appointed police commissioners and all other participants. Gregor Lange wished the new colleagues success in their tasks and emphasized the importance of qualified new talent in the increasing demands on the police.
