New Police Officers Sworn In at Dortmund-Aplerbeck Regional Training Centre
On September 1st, 2025, Police President Gregor Lange welcomed 172 new officers to the Dortmund Police force at the Regional Training Centre in Dortmund-Aplerbeck. Among them were 115 Police Commissioners, who were appointed by Lange on August 29th, and 341 police commissioner trainees and government inspector trainees who began their dual studies on the same day.
In his speech, Lange acknowledged the critical scrutiny that the police's actions receive in challenging times. He emphasised the importance of qualified new recruits, stating that they are indispensable due to the increasing demands and complex tasks that the police face.
Lange also emphasised the importance of earning the trust of the people. He stated that the rule of law functions only if citizens can trust the police. He encouraged the new officers to work towards earning this trust daily.
The ceremony concluded with Lange administering the oath of office to the newly appointed Police Commissioners and all other participants. The new Police Commissioners will immediately reinforce the locations in Dortmund and Lünen.
In addition to the new recruits, 49 police officers transferred from other authorities, and 8 government inspectors joined the Dortmund Police force. These new colleagues will be responsible for the safety of nearly 700,000 people and will also oversee over 500 kilometers of highways under the jurisdiction of the Dortmund Police Presidium.
