New Features Introduced in Ableton Live 12.3 Beta: Stem Separation, Splice Integration, and Additional Enhancements

Ableton has unveiled the public beta for its latest version, Live 12.3, a powerful upgrade to their Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that promises to revolutionize music production.

The highlight of this new version is the introduction of the Stem Separation feature, which allows users to split any audio clip into vocals, drums, bass, and other parts. This feature is powered by Music AI's algorithms and has been tested with albums and artists such as Flying Lotus, Kaytranada, and Kimbra.

In addition to Stem Separation, Live 12.3 also boasts several other significant improvements. The Auto Pan has been upgraded to Auto Pan-Tremolo, enabling users to create wide stereo movement, sidechain-style pumping, trance-style gates, and complex polyrhythms—all in one device.

Another notable addition is the new Search with Sound feature, which finds samples that match the rhythm and harmony of a dropped clip from the user's track. This feature is sure to streamline the sampling process, making it easier and more efficient for producers.

The Sequencers Pack adds new arrangement options, providing more flexibility for composing and arranging music. The Generators by Iftah Pack offers tools for instant basslines and rhythms, while the Expressive Chords Pack simplifies the process of editing and learning chords.

Live 12.3 also focuses on enhancing the user experience. The Paste Bounced Audio feature lets users paste any clip or selection as rendered audio with a simple shortcut, making the workflow smoother and more efficient. The Rhythm Generator in Push 3 provides a hands-on way to create and tweak beats, while touch-sensitive step editing makes it easy to add a human feel to drums.

Push 3 in Ableton Live 12.3 also gets more expressive and flexible with the XYZ layout. Splice integration is included, allowing users to browse the entire Splice library directly inside Live's Browser. Note 1.5 on mobile unlocks full control of the Drift synth as an in-app purchase.

Moreover, the update makes bouncing audio smoother with the addition of Bounce Groups, which allows users to bounce a whole Group track with all its effects. Move 1.6 adds sliced loop presets, reversible Drum Rack samples, and smoother transfers with Move Manager.

Finally, all built-in devices in Ableton Live 12.3 now support A/B parameter states, providing a convenient way to compare settings and find the perfect sound.

Musicians and producers can join the public beta of Ableton Live 12.3 on Ableton.com. With its array of new features and improvements, Live 12.3 is shaping up to be a must-have tool for any serious music producer.
