New faces and familiar leaders emerge in Kentucky’s 2026 election races

In Dayton, Jeff Mims has announced his candidacy for mayor. The city will also see a familiar face seeking re-election: Tarris 'Troy' Horton, who is running again for Dayton City Council. Horton highlighted his work on community projects, such as Project 1099 and the new Pickleball Courts, as key achievements during his term. His campaign focuses on expanding Campbell Media in Dayton, aiming to give residents better access to information and tools for creating their own content.

The upcoming elections and transitions will bring fresh leadership to cities and counties in the region. Dayton’s mayoral and council races, Covington’s expanded government, and Kentucky’s Senate and commission contests all reflect ongoing efforts to address community needs. Residents will soon decide who will guide these changes in the years ahead.
