New exhibit unveiled at Schölerberg Museum
The Schoelerberg Museum in Germany is gearing up for an exciting season, with over 200 events scheduled from September to December 2025. The programme promises a diverse range of topics, from primordial life to rock music, wild bees, and plant-based eating, among others.
Kicking off the season is the special exhibition "Rock Fossils on Tour," which will be on display until December 30. This exhibition offers a unique blend of paleontology and psychology, with creative offers for children and families, lectures and readings, a festival day, and a big action weekend.
On September 14, visitors can embark on an exciting journey from Earth into the solar system with the live program "Expedition Weltraum - I. Das Sonnensystem" at the planetarium. From September 16, the planetarium will also show the new show "Galaxis - Reise durch die Milchstraße," making knowledge about the Milky Way tangible with impressive images and showing the dynamics in the development of stars and galaxies.
On October 9, Dr. Arnold Staniczek will present "Amber Rocks!," an intriguing exploration of amber and its role in paleontology. The traveling exhibition "BananaRama - Eine Forschungsreise zur Banane" will also be on display at the Schoelerberg Museum from October 18 to November 15, offering interactive elements and exhibits to show how new banana varieties are bred, the role of modern technologies in cultivation, and the importance of biodiversity for global food security.
Prof. Dr. Mats Eriksson will deliver two captivating lectures during the season. On October 25, he will present "Another primordial day - The paleo metal diaries," focusing on primordial life. On November 4, he will give a lecture on his bestselling book "Lebendige Nacht - vom verborgenen Leben der Tiere."
The Halloween and Christmas seasons will be celebrated with two big creative weekends. Halloween crafting will take place on October 26, and Christmas crafting will be held on December 20 and 21. The planetarium will also host a festive evening under the stars and an electro-pop concert.
Music lovers can look forward to "Hard, Heavy & Happy" presented by Dr. Nico Rose with live music by the band "Acoustic Steel" on November 27. The theatre piece "Himmelwärts" by Karen Köhler will also be shown at the planetarium from October 24, implemented with figure play and live sounds.
Garden workshops covering seasonal topics such as storing harvest, preparing the garden for the cold season, or making liqueur will also be held throughout the season, although specific dates have not been announced yet.
The events will take place at the museum, planetarium, and environmental education center, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. So, mark your calendars and get ready for an enlightening and entertaining journey at the Schoelerberg Museum this fall!
