The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Chevrolet unveils its latest creation, the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS. This souped-up version of the midsize electric SUV promises quickness, agility, and a thrilling driving experience.

Under the hood, or rather under the front drive unit, the Blazer EV SS integrates power electronics, while the rear traction power inverters are integrated as well. This setup features a front drive unit that provides 258 lb.-ft. (350 Nm) of peak torque and another permanent-magnet motor in the rear that generates 391 lb.-ft. (530 Nm).

The Blazer EV SS offers seating for five passengers and a spacious 59.8 cu.-ft. of luggage space. Its robust chassis and suspension system, with 60% stiffer antiroll bars in the front and rear, and 30% stiffer front and rear springs, ensure a stable and responsive ride.

During development, the team tested the Blazer EV SS on challenging roads to ensure its performance capabilities. They put the SUV through its paces on the Angeles Crest, a 66-mile highway in Southern California with winding roads and elevation changes. The team also tested the Blazer EV SS on the Back of the Dragon, a 32-mile road with 483 curves in Virginia. For acceleration, suspension tuning, stopping, and chassis control, developers traveled to Grattan Raceway in Michigan.

The Blazer EV SS is equipped with Brembo front brakes featuring six-piston calipers and 390-mm rotors, and sliding caliper brakes in the rear with 345-mm rotors. The standard brakes have ferritic nitrocarburizing on the rotors for durability, but this coating is not used on the rotors for those opting for the Performance package to reduce brake fade.

To improve cooling, engineers in the Blazer EV SS used segmented magnets and silicon-carbide DC-AC inverters. With the "Wide Open Watts" function activated, the Blazer EV SS can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a lightning-fast 3.4 seconds.

The Blazer EV SS has a curb weight of 5,730 lbs. (2,599 kg) and a 102-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, providing a range of 303 miles (488 km). While this is less than the rear-wheel-drive Blazer EV's 334 miles (538 km), it's more than enough for daily commuting and weekend adventures.

Mark Reuss, a Chevy executive, commented on the Blazer EV SS, saying, "It makes a good statement about the brand." With its blend of performance, style, and practicality, the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS is poised to make a strong impact in the electric SUV market.

The name of the Chevrolet engineer responsible for the development of the Blazer EV SS is not publicly disclosed, but their work has undoubtedly contributed to the creation of an exciting new vehicle. The Blazer EV SS took advantage of the development work done for the 2024 Blazer EV, including the use of virtual tools and road testing.

The Blazer EV SS features clear taillight lenses and a lower diffuser, giving it a sleek and sporty appearance. With its impressive performance capabilities and stylish design, the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS is sure to turn heads on the road.

The Blazer EV SS requires Launch Control to achieve its quick 0-60 mph time. The standard brakes have ferritic nitrocarburizing on the rotors for durability, but this coating is not used on the rotors for those opting for the Performance package to reduce brake fade.

The Blazer EV SS underwent over 10,000 hours of testing, including dynamometer testing of the power units for an equivalent of 225,000 miles. This rigorous testing ensures that the Blazer EV SS is reliable and ready for the road.

In conclusion, the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS is a high-performance electric SUV that promises an exhilarating driving experience. With its powerful motor, robust chassis, and stylish design, the Blazer EV SS is set to make a strong impact in the electric vehicle market.
