Netto Now Sells Cannabis Seeds in Germany After Legalization
Netto has become the latest discount supermarket chain to sell cannabis seeds in Germany. The move follows the legalisation of marijuana in April 2024 and expands access for home growers. Three seed varieties are now available in 255 stores across Berlin and northeastern Germany.
The seeds went on sale on March 9, 2026, priced at €14.99 each. Customers can choose from L.A. Kush Cake, White Runtz, and Sour Diesel—all feminized and suitable for indoor or outdoor growing. The selection was developed with Netto to cater to both beginners and experienced cultivators.
The seeds are non-psychoactive and fully compliant with German law, according to gutmut saatgut, the supplier. Florian Kröckel, co-founder of the company, called the supermarket placement a natural progression after the Cannabis Act took effect. Despite legalisation, strict rules remain: consumption is banned in certain public areas and near minors.
As of March 2026, no other discount chains besides Aldi have publicly announced similar offerings. This makes Netto one of the few major retailers to stock cannabis seeds since the law changed.
The seeds are now available in Netto stores for €14.99, with three varieties to choose from. Their sale reflects ongoing changes in Germany's cannabis market since legalisation. However, restrictions on public use and proximity to minors remain firmly in place.
