Netflix has greenlit another season of Chuck Lorre's comedy series 'Leanne' for another go-round
Leanne Morgan, a seasoned stand-up comedian, has recently found newfound success with her second Netflix series, "Leanne," produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Morgan co-created the series with Lorre and Susan McMartin.
Morgan's career took a turn for the better after a period of frustration and defeat following 20 years in the comedy industry and life as an empty-nester. This change was sparked by her decision to invest in herself and trust her instincts.
Her new stand-up special, Unspeakable Things, premieres globally on Netflix on November 4. This special is the first of two new projects in Morgan's deal with Netflix, following the success of her 2023 breakout special, I'm Every Woman, which became Netflix's most-viewed comedy special by a woman since early 2023.
The first season of Leanne centres around Morgan's character experiencing a marital betrayal and finding support from her family. Kristen Johnston plays Morgan's ride-or-die sister Carol in the series. The show also stars Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers, and Hannah Pilkes.
Leanne has received rave reviews from critics and has been a chart-topper since its premiere on July 31, consisting of 16 episodes. Nick Bakay and Judi Marmel serve as executive producers, alongside Morgan and Lorre.
Morgan's inspiring story, particularly her success later in life, is a testament to never giving up. She advises anyone feeling despondent about their lives to invest in themselves and not give up, as it's never too late to rewrite your story.
In a heartfelt post on Tudum.com, Morgan expressed her gratitude to fans for their continuous support. She also announced that Netflix has greenlit a second season for Leanne.
Morgan's journey from stand-up comedy to sitcom success is a testament to the power of self-belief and the importance of taking risks. Her story serves as an inspiration to many, demonstrating that success can come at any stage in life.
