Netanyahu's inactivity concerning Khan al-Ahmar equates to forsaking, not sovereignty, according to MK Forer.

In a recent development, the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine is facing a potential threat due to the ongoing showdown over the contentious issue of Khan al-Ahmar. This Arab outpost, located east of Jerusalem, has been a point of contention for years.

Israeli politician MK Oded Forer, leader of the Yisrael Beytenu faction, has accused the Netanyahu government of making excuses and not evacuating Khan al-Ahmar. He protested against what he perceives as the government's surrender of Israeli sovereignty at the site.

Forer claims that Netanyahu's inaction allows for illegal Palestinian takeover in Area C, a region under full Israeli civil and security control according to the Oslo Accords. He further alleges that the Netanyahu government is preventing the implementation of sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and Ma'ale Adumim, two strategically important areas.

The Blue and White party has criticised Forer in connection with the waiver of Israeli sovereignty in Khan al-Ahmar. They point to the government's halting of plans to implement sovereignty over the Jordan Valley section and Ma'ale Adumim as evidence.

The expansion of Khan al-Ahmar continues unabated, raising concerns about the illegal Palestinian takeover in Area C. Forer's concerns are not unfounded, as the takeover of Israeli lands under Netanyahu's watch extends to areas on the way to Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim.

The Supreme Court is currently holding a hearing on the future of Khan al-Ahmar. The issue at hand is the alleged surrender of Israeli sovereignty over Khan al-Ahmar by the Netanyahu government. Netanyahu holds approvals for the evacuation of the settlement, including from the Supreme Court, but has not carried out the evacuation.

An evacuation order was given in 2018, but was halted by Prime Minister Netanyahu. This decision has been met with criticism, with Forer accusing Netanyahu and his partners of lying about evacuating an illegal Palestinian settlement.

The diplomatic fallout from this issue is significant. After the October swearing-in events, Israel allegedly experienced a diplomatic collapse under Netanyahu's leadership, with more and more countries recognising a Palestinian state due to his actions.

Forer's conclusion is stark: The current situation is not sovereignty, but abandonment. He was accompanied by young party members from the settlements during his protest, indicating a growing concern within Israeli political circles about the government's handling of the situation.

This ongoing dispute over Khan al-Ahmar threatens not only Israeli sovereignty but also the peace process and the future of the region. The situation is one to watch closely in the coming months.
