Neighbor faces arrest after issuing threats
In an unexpected turn of events, a 61-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon in Wilhelmstadt following an incident on Wörther Street.
The incident, which took place around 3 PM in a multi-family building, saw the man point a firearm at a 35-year-old woman. Fortunately, the woman was not injured during the incident. She promptly alerted the police to the scene.
The special commission of Police Directorate 2 (West) began the investigation on August 15, 2023. After obtaining a judicial search warrant, special forces of the special operations unit broke down the man's apartment door and arrested him.
During the search, several items were found inside the apartment. These included two blank-firing weapons, a rendered inoperable additional firearm, ammunition, and a practice hand grenade. All the items were seized by the special forces.
The arrested man, who sustained facial injuries during the arrest, was transported to a hospital for further treatment. He also reported that the firearm he pointed at the woman was loaded.
The subsequent investigation is now being handled by a specialized commission of the Police Directorate 2 (West). The 35-year-old woman who was pointed at by the man was not injured and did not require hospital treatment. The 61-year-old suspect is currently undergoing medical care and further investigation.
