Neglected candle results in household inferno
In the Sahakon community, Tha Sai Luat subdistrict, Mae Sot district, in Tak province, a single-storey house was completely destroyed by a fire that occurred on Monday morning.
The blaze was first reported around 9am, and flames were seen eating through the roof of the house when firefighters arrived. Five fire trucks were dispatched to combat the inferno, and it took approximately 15 minutes for the brave firefighters to bring the blaze under control.
Sadly, a 39-year-old man, identified as Sitthisak, lost his home and all his belongings in the fire. Sitthisak admitted to forgetting to put out an unattended candle near a chair by the wardrobe before leaving the house on Monday morning. He believes the unattended candle was the cause of the fire.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident. The fire was investigated by Pol Lt Pattharadet Saiwaew of Mae Sot police.
It's worth noting that Sitthisak's electricity had been cut off last week, forcing him to use candles for light. This unfortunate event has also affected another community, as a basement fire in Wels-Lichtenegg, Austria, caused the evacuation of 109 people from a house that belonged to the 39-year-old man.
The investigation into the fire is continuing, and the community hopes for a swift resolution to understand the full extent of the incident. Our thoughts are with Sitthisak during this difficult time.
