Koblenz Police Concerned Over Traffic Offenses During Speed Marathon
The Police Headquarters in Koblenz has expressed concern over the number of traffic offenses recorded during a recent Speed Marathon. According to the Police Headquarters, a total of 2,938 speeding offenses were recorded on April 9, 2025, during the event.
The Speed Marathon was part of a statewide event called ROADPOL-Speedweek, which took place from April 7 to April 13, 2025. Intensive traffic speed monitoring was carried out during this period, with the Police Headquarters participating in the event.
Speed was monitored by fixed measuring stations, laser measurements, and mobile measurements (Provida) during the Speed Marathon. A total of 164,640 vehicles were checked at 30 control points in the area of responsibility of the Police Headquarters Koblenz.
Excessive speed is identified as the main cause of traffic accidents, and the Police Headquarters intends to strengthen police traffic safety work in response to the high number of offenses recorded during the Speed Marathon.
The Police Headquarters did not specify whether the entire control week includes the Speed Marathon mentioned in earlier facts. They also did not provide specific figures on the speeding offenses during the entire control week, citing pending evaluations as the reason.
Final figures on the offenses cannot be provided at this time, but the Police Headquarters has emphasised their commitment to improving traffic safety in the region.
