Musicians Dave Koz and his band found themselves in a persistently delayed flight, leading them to grab their instruments in readiness.

A memorable moment unfolded on a flight from St. Louis to Seattle on August 11, as jazz saxophonist Dave Koz and his bandmates held an impromptu jam session. The flight, which was delayed due to a diversion to Boise, Idaho, and a mechanical issue, saw Koz, fellow saxophone player Marcus Anderson, and other horn players grooving in the aisle, with Jeff Bradshaw on trombone playing the instrument between seats.

The band was asked to perform a song by a flight attendant, who no doubt aimed to lift the spirits of the passengers stuck on the tarmac hundreds of miles from their final destination. They chose Stevie Wonder's "You Haven't Done Nothin'", and the performance was met with smiles and swaying from the passengers who recorded the event on their phones.

Marcus Anderson felt good about lifting spirits with the performance, comparing the feeling to a great workout at the gym. Dave Koz, too, was moved by the moment, stating that he would remember it for the rest of his life. The performance brought everyone together in a very special way, according to Koz.

Interestingly, the musicians did not consider the possibility of their performance going viral. However, a video of their performance quickly spread on social media, garnering widespread praise.

The band was on the Dave Koz & Friends Summer Horns Tour and was headed to Seattle for two days of shows. Regrettably, the musicians have experienced delays and cancellations since their tour started around mid-July. Despite these challenges, they managed to create a moment of joy and camaraderie on that fateful flight.

The flight captain or flight attendant who delayed the flight has not been publicly identified. Nonetheless, the impromptu jam session will undoubtedly be remembered by all who were present, as a testament to the power of music to bring people together in difficult times.
