Murcia's 2025 Christmas celebrations kick off with dazzling lights and citywide festivities

Murcia is launching its Christmas celebrations for 2025 with two major events. The city has expanded its festive plans, bringing more lights, performances, and neighbourhood involvement than ever before.

The festivities begin on Saturday, November 22, at Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, where all of Murcia's Christmas lights will be switched on simultaneously. This kick-off event marks the start of a season filled with decorations, music, and community activities.

The second highlight takes place on **Friday, November 28**, at **Plaza Circular**, featuring the lighting of Murcia's **Grand Christmas Tree**. A special show with live performances and a guest appearance will accompany the ceremony. This year's celebrations are more inclusive, with **eight additional districts** joining the lighting plan for the first time. **La Flota, Santa María de Gracia, El Carmen, San Andrés, Vistalegre, Nonduermas, El Palmar, and Los Ramos** will now take part, making the festivities more widespread across the city. Local businesses and neighbourhood groups have also decorated streets and shopfronts, turning Murcia into a festive destination. **El Corte Inglés' Cortylandia** has refreshed its Christmas programme, introducing new decorations, updated music, and a revised performance schedule. Families can enjoy extra activities and pop-up performances in the **historic centre** throughout December. The **Jardín de Malecón lights** will return as well, offering a quiet evening tradition for residents and visitors.

The city council has invited everyone to attend the two main events, marking the official start of Christmas in Murcia. With expanded lighting, more neighbourhoods involved, and a mix of new and traditional shows, the 2025 celebrations aim to bring the community together in a brighter, more festive atmosphere.
