Municipality prioritizes rainy season readiness, boosts drainage system upkeep

The Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport have initiated a series of maintenance works on manholes and rainwater drainage lines across the country. This move is part of the preparations for the upcoming rainy season.

The focus of the maintenance work is on locations prone to water accumulation during moderate to heavy rainfall. Specialized companies, such as Kanal Pur GmbH, Schneider Kanalreinigung, and Kanalmaus, have been assigned to remove accumulated waste and dirt from inside the manholes.

Key sites have been identified for the placement of water-draining machines to handle potential flooding. The placement of these machines aims to ensure a more efficient response once the rainy season begins.

The goal is to ensure that rainwater inlets remain clear and capable of draining water smoothly. The maintenance work is progressing according to plan, and emergency teams from both authorities have been cleaning drains and manholes nationwide, including along highways, since earlier this month.

The cleaning process has already produced significant amounts of waste and debris, which are being collected and disposed of properly. Officials have emphasized the importance of public cooperation, urging citizens and residents to dispose of waste in designated areas to prevent clogging.

Continuous coordination is taking place through the Emergency Committee, which meets regularly to assess preparations. However, no new instructions for public cooperation have been announced.

The Ministry has not provided details about the specific locations of these key sites or the number or type of water-draining machines being placed. This information remains undisclosed.

As the rainy season approaches, it is crucial to ensure the efficient drainage of rainwater to prevent potential flooding. The maintenance work on manholes and drainage lines is a significant step towards achieving this goal. Stay tuned for further updates on the progress of these preparations.
