In an unexpected turn of events, an ICE train traveling from Munich to Hamburg broke down on the tracks between Würzburg and Fulda in the Spessart region. The operator of the train, Deutsche Bahn, confirmed that the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

Approximately 300 passengers were on board the ICE 704 when it halted due to a malfunction in the air conditioning system. No injuries were reported as a result of the breakdown.

To accommodate the stranded passengers, a second train, ICE 502, served as a replacement vehicle. The "train exchange" on the open track took place in the afternoon and lasted until the evening.

The exact cause of the breakdown is still under investigation. German Railways apologized for the inconvenience caused and asked for understanding regarding the delays in operations. The railway company did not provide any information on the passengers who were evacuated from the second train.

Another long-distance train was evacuated at Würzburg station to transport the stranded passengers. The railway spokesperson reported that the second train was cleared at Würzburg station. However, the railway spokesperson did not provide information on the exact number of passengers who had to leave the second evacuated train.

German Railways also confirmed that the relevant passenger rights regulations apply to the affected passengers. The incident is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.

German Railways apologized for the inconvenience caused and asked for understanding regarding the delays in operations. They reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of their passengers and promised to investigate the cause of the breakdown thoroughly.

In the meantime, passengers are advised to check the status of their trains on the German Railways website or contact customer service for the latest updates. The company also encouraged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any potential delays.
