In a surprising turn of events, the EuroBasket tournament in Tampere, Finland, has seen a shakeup as the national team's coach, Alex Mumbru, has been hospitalised due to an acute abdomen. Mumbru is currently receiving medical treatment in a Tampere hospital.

The team's assistant coach, Alan Ibrahimagic, has stepped up to take the reins temporarily. Ibrahimagic, who has had success coaching youth national teams, filled in admirably during the team's 106-76 win over Montenegro on Wednesday.

No specific timeline for Mumbru's return has been provided by team doctor Oliver Pütz. However, Pütz did express optimism, stating that there is a possibility that Mumbru could return to the sidelines if everything goes well. The recovery progress will be monitored day by day.

Pütz praised the hospital staff for their care and thanked them for their diligence in looking after Mumbru. Ibrahimagic, too, acknowledged the first day as head coach was challenging but expressed his focus on his job. He is currently staying in the team hotel in Tampere.

The games against Sweden and Lithuania will be broadcast on MagentaSport and RTL. The team is expected to maintain the same dynamic against Sweden on Friday and against Lithuania on Saturday.

Following the games against Sweden and Lithuania, the team will face the UK on Monday and Finland on Wednesday, both in Tampere.

The EuroBasket tournament continues to be an exciting event, with the team's temporary leadership change adding an extra layer of intrigue. Fans and supporters alike will be eagerly awaiting updates on Mumbru's recovery and the team's performance under Ibrahimagic's leadership.
