Multiple vehicles sustained damage following an incident involving a truck driver in Poland, as stated by authorities.
In the heart of Lübeck, on September 3, 2025, a series of traffic accidents unfolded that left two roads—Königsberger Allee and Seestraße—under a cloud of uncertainty. The events that transpired have raised concerns about the driver's actions and have led to an ongoing investigation.
The chain of events began when a VW Touran, driven by a 33-year-old man from Baden-Württemberg, collided with a parked VW Polo on Königsberger Allee. Despite the efforts of patrons nearby who placed barriers to stop the driver, he drove through them and continued his path of destruction.
The VW Touran then proceeded to drive through Wicheldorfstraße, Strandallee, and Seestraße multiple times, causing damage to property and vehicles along the way. One of the accidents involved a head-on collision with a BMW coming from the opposite direction on Seestraße.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the accidents. However, the VW was no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away, and the BMW also sustained damage. The extent of the damage to the VW could not be fully attributed to the accidents; whether the damage was old or new could not be determined at the scene.
A preliminary breath alcohol test showed a value of 1.1 per thousand for the driver of the VW, leading to suspicions of drunk driving. The man could not produce a valid driver's license, further compounding the situation.
The police have ordered a blood test for the driver and are investigating him on suspicion of endangering traffic due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages and driving without a valid license. Persons with information about other damaged vehicles are asked to contact the local police station, which can be reached at 04562-22000.
