Multiple road restrictions and closures expected in Schwerin during September
On Saturday, September 6th, the streets of Schwerin will be buzzing with activity as two significant events take place. The 22nd Schweriner Frauenlauf (Schwerin Women's Run) will be held, and construction work on district heating lines and sidewalks will commence.
The Schwerin Women's Run, opened by the 2nd Deputy City President Cordula Manow near Schleifmühlenweg 38, will affect Schleifmühlenweg between Parkweg and Paulshoher Weg. To accommodate the event, this section will be impassable from 10 am to 2 pm. Pedestrians and cyclists can use the opposite side of the street during construction on Güstrower Street, which will also be affected by the event.
Meanwhile, construction work will take place on Bishop Street, between the cathedral (passage) and Straße Am Dom, from September 1st to October 17th. During this period, the entirety of Bishop Street will be closed to vehicle traffic. Access will remain open for residents up to the construction site on Bishop Street, and a traffic light at Güstrower Street is intended to regulate traffic flow during the road closures.
During construction on Güstrower Street, from September 1st to September 19th, Eigenbetrieb SDS will renovate the sidewalk and bike path. The sidewalk and bike path will be fully closed, and traffic on the road will be regulated half-side with a traffic light.
It's important to note that the Schwerin Women's Run is an additional event causing road closures and detours in Schwerin, separate from the construction work on district heating lines and sidewalks. The Schwerin Women's Run is scheduled for Saturday, September 6th, and the closure will affect the section of Bishop Street from the cathedral (passage) to Straße Am Dom.
The construction work on Bishop Street and the Schwerin Women's Run are the reasons for the road closures and detours in Schwerin. The Schwerin Women's Run will cause road closures on Schleifmühlenweg from 10 am to 2 pm on September 6th.
We advise motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and consider using alternative routes during these times to avoid any inconvenience. For more information about the Schwerin Women's Run, please visit the event's official website. For updates on the construction work, follow the city's official traffic updates.
Stay informed, and we look forward to seeing you in Schwerin this weekend!
