"MP from Ndia defends National Government-Constituency Development Fund amid disputes over management of resources"
In the Mount Kenya region of Kenya, Member of Parliament for Ndia constituency, George Kariuki, has called for unity, civility, and respectful leadership. Kariuki, in his address, used the late President Mwai Kibaki as an example of a leader who demonstrated respect during political differences.
Kariuki emphasised the need for leaders to prioritise service delivery over politicking. He announced major infrastructure investments in the Ndia constituency, with Sh 55 million allocated for the upgrading of the Kiangai Feeder Road and additional Sh1 billion for the Kiburu Road project. The Kiangai Feeder Road upgrade includes tarmacking and drainage works, aimed at boosting trade and mobility in the area.
The MP also reaffirmed his commitment to delivering tangible results for the people of Ndia, focusing on development and service delivery. He believes the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has been instrumental in transforming lives across Kenya, credited with increasing school enrolment and delivering essential infrastructure projects directly to the public without bureaucratic delays.
Kariuki defended the NG-CDF, warning that transferring it to county governments, as proposed by ODM leader Raila Odinga, could derail grassroots development. He cited the NG-CDF's impact as a reason for leaders to focus on their duties rather than politics.
Moreover, Kariuki urged regional leaders to stop empty rhetoric and focus on restoring the region's political stature. He called for unity and civility in Mt Kenya, emphasising the importance of working together for the betterment of the region.
In conclusion, George Kariuki's call for respectful leadership and infrastructure development in the Ndia constituency reflects a commitment to serving his constituents and promoting unity in the Mount Kenya region.
