Motorway Accident on A57 Neuss-Süd: Vehicle Flips Upside Down, Leaves Three People Hurt Severely
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at approximately 18:00, a traffic accident occurred on the A57 towards Nijmegen. The incident involved a Mercedes and a Citroen, causing significant disruption to traffic as lanes were rerouted around the accident scene.
The local Autobahn police, responsible for investigating highway accidents in North Rhine-Westphalia, were the primary authorities on the case. The unfortunate event unfolded with the Citroen being in the middle lane when the accident occurred.
According to reports, the driver of the Mercedes, a 47-year-old from Cologne, was merging from the A46 at the Neuss-Süd interchange. It appears that the driver lost control of his Mercedes, colliding with the concrete barrier on the left side of the road. He then moved from the right to the middle lane and then suddenly moved to the left lane, where he spun into the Citroen, causing it to flip and land on its roof.
The driver of the Citroen, a 20-year-old, sustained severe injuries. Fortunately, the two other passengers in the vehicle, aged 49 and 24, were only lightly injured. The individuals involved in the accident are of Polish origin.
Emergency services, including firefighting units, were quick to respond to the scene. Traffic was rerouted via the left and right lanes, causing delays for motorists. All lanes were reopened by approximately 20:45.
At this time, no further details about the current condition of the individuals involved in the accident have been provided. The Autobahn police continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident.
