Mob of thirty-eight individuals assaults a commuter within a streetcar
In an unsettling incident that unfolded on Tuesday, August 19th, a 38-year-old man was arrested at Cologne's Heumarkt following an alleged attack on a 24-year-old passenger on a line 1 train.
The disturbance began around 5:20 PM when the man, who was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, became verbally abusive on the city train. His behaviour escalated, leading to a physical altercation.
The man is accused of kicking the 24-year-old passenger in the face and striking arriving officers with his fists at the Heumarkt stop. This aggressive behaviour continued even after he was overpowered by several police units, who had to use a taser to subdue him.

Two police officers (27, 28) sustained minor injuries during the incident. The man was taken into police custody at the Heumarkt stop and a blood sample was taken from him at the scene.
