Missouri's Quarterback Sam Horn will be missing for an extended spell due to a leg injury.
Missouri quarterback Sam Horn's football season has come to an unfortunate end due to a serious right leg injury sustained during the season-opening victory over Central Arkansas. The exact nature of Horn's injury and the steps for his recovery are yet to be determined, as coach Eliah Drinkwitz is awaiting the results of an MRI exam conducted on Friday.
Horn, who underwent Tommy John surgery in the past, was seen using crutches and wearing a full-length brace on his leg after the injury. The diagnosis and recovery timeline remain uncertain, with Horn set to be out for an extended period of time.
In a twist of events, Horn had agreed to play football this season and then join the Los Angeles Dodgers following the season. However, this agreement will likely be postponed due to his current injury. Horn was drafted by the Dodgers in the 2025 MLB Draft in the 17th round.
Initially, the plan for Missouri was for Horn and Penn State transfer Beau Pribula to share the quarterback workload. With Horn's injury, Pribula will take over as the starting quarterback. In his debut against Central Arkansas, Pribula showed promise, completing 23 out of 28 passes for 283 yards, scoring two touchdowns, and rushing for 65 yards with two scores.
As Missouri prepares for their next game against Kansas on September 6, the search for a replacement player for the injured Horn remains unclear. Drinkwitz had wanted game tape of both Horn and Pribula in the opener before naming a starting quarterback. With Horn's injury, Pribula's performance against Central Arkansas has solidified his position as the starting quarterback.
The football community at Missouri and beyond sends their well wishes to Sam Horn for a speedy and full recovery.
