Misleading sharing of a violent encounter from November 2022, originally in Malaysia, as happening in India instead.

In recent days, a disturbing video has been circulating online, showing a man identified as Reduan Mahmood physically abusing a woman named Adrina Mohd Ariff. However, there has been some confusion regarding the location of the incident, with some claiming it took place in India.

We would like to clarify that the assault did not occur in India, but rather at their home in Batu 9, Cheras, Malaysia, on 14 November 2022. This has been confirmed by multiple Malaysian media reports from various sources.

The video shows Reduan Mahmood kicking Adrina Mohd Ariff in the face and dragging her by the hair. He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to Adrina Mohd Ariff.

The incident was initially reported by Malaysia-based news portal Alhijrah on 19 November 2022, but it appears there was a misunderstanding regarding the date of the incident.

It is important to note that the video has no connection to India, as confirmed by multiple Malaysian media reports. The assault took place in front of a child, and Reduan Mahmood is currently serving his sentence in a Malaysian correctional facility following his conviction in November 2022.
