Miriam Reyes, a poet born in Ourense who emigrated to Caracas at the age of eight, has been awarded the National Poetry Prize 2025 for her work "Con". The jury, comprising esteemed literary figures, praised the poetic voice of Reyes, describing it as forcefully and originally tracing the territory of mutuality, giving it an exceptional cosmic sense.

The jury also noted that "Con" has a very suggestive architectural structure and a rhythm that centers on the dimensions of relation to the other. This work, according to the jury, participates in public conversation regarding the possibilities of connections.

Reyes' latest poetic work is collected in the volume Extraña manera de estar viva (Mixtura, 2022). Her writing moves from the nakedness of consciousness and the body, challenging and undressing each and every one of our emotions with its conceptual sharpness.

Since the year 2001, Reyes has been experimenting with audiovisual writing and multimedia recitals. She has published several poetry books apart from "Con", including Espejo negro, Bella durmiente, Desalojos, Yo, interior, cuerpo, Haz lo que te digo, Prensado en frío, and Sardiña.

The sonority and rhythm of "Con" make it an excellent poetry collection, fitting perfectly into the long list of laureates of the National Poetry Prize, including Miren Agur Meabe, Yolanda Castaño, Aurora Luque, Olga Novo, Pilar Pallarés, and Antònia Vicens, among others.

The National Poetry Prize 2025 was appointed by the Ministry of Culture, and the jury awarded 30,000 euros to Miriam Reyes. Chus Pato, another distinguished poet, also joined this list of laureates in the last edition of the prize.

Reyes' journey from her birthplace in Ourense to Caracas and her subsequent literary success serves as an inspiration to many aspiring poets. With her unique poetic voice and engaging works, Miriam Reyes continues to make significant contributions to the world of poetry.
