Britta Müller Joins Alliance for Progress in Brandenburg
Britta Müller, a prominent figure in German politics, has made a significant move by leaving the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and joining the Alliance for Progress (BSW) in Brandenburg. The announcement was made through the BSW state association in a meeting that took place in Potsdam.
Müller, who was previously a politician from the SPD, has been a member of the state parliament and the SPD's health policy spokesperson from 2014 to 2019. She has now taken up the role of Health Minister in Brandenburg, following her decision to join the BSW.
Friederike Benda, the state leader of the Alliance for Progress (BSW), introduced Müller as a new member during a BSW state parliament faction meeting. Benda spoke of a boost for the BSW with Müller's joining, as the party now has approximately 900 members in Brandenburg.
Müller's decision to join the BSW was described as conscious and well-considered. She stated that joining the BSW provides her with a political home where she can represent her values and priorities with a clear conscience.
Müller's health policy achievements include more funding for hospitals and supporting those injured by COVID-19 vaccinations. Her commitment to health and wellbeing aligns with the BSW's focus on social justice and solidarity.
The Alliance for Progress (BSW) was founded in the year 2024, and Müller's joining marks a significant milestone for the party. Friederike Benda emphasized Müller's commitment to the party, stating that Müller stands for a health policy that provides security, according to Benda.
Britta Müller belonged to the SPD for over 25 years before joining the BSW. She ended her over 25-year membership with the SPD in autumn 2024. Müller's addition to the BSW is expected to bring fresh perspectives and strengthen the party's presence in Brandenburg.
