Nigerian Army Achieves Significant Operational Gains in Nationwide Crackdown

In a series of coordinated operations over the past three days, the Nigerian Army has made significant strides in dismantling terrorist networks, disrupting their logistics, and denying them safe havens.

On August 11, troops in Borno apprehended 25 family members of Islamic States of West African Province (ISWAP) fighters. Simultaneously, in Plateau, five suspected pipeline vandals were nabbed, and government-owned pipes were recovered. In Taraba, two suspected kidnap collaborators were apprehended by troops of Sector 3 FOB Wukari, under Operation Whirl Stroke.

The following day, August 12, troops in Kebbi apprehended eight suspected kidnappers believed to be behind several recent abductions in the area. In Yobe State, troops neutralized one terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle in an ambush.

On August 13, a coordinated offensive was launched on an IPOB/ESN camp at Ndeji Community, a border area between Anambra, Abia, and Imo States. The operation resulted in the neutralization of one armed member of the group and the recovery of a pistol with ammunition, cartridges, handheld radios, components for improvised explosive devices (IEDs), mobile phones, and other operational equipment. Two IEDs planted by the criminals at the Ndeji Community camp were safely destroyed by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

In addition, a surrendered family group consisting of 12 adult females and 13 children from the Zalmari, Gazuwa, and Alafa axis was handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation.

In Zamfara, troops foiled a planned terrorist attack on FOB Galadi in Shinkafi LGA, killing one terrorist and seizing a mobile phone used for operational coordination.

The Nigerian Army has announced that in the last three days, it has neutralized numerous terrorists and arrested at least 17 offenders in various regions of the country, including Borno, Yobe, Zamfara, Kebbi, Plateau, Taraba, and the Southeast. Items recovered from the suspects in Taraba included POS machines, ATM cards, and cash believed to be linked to ransom transactions.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its resolve to maintain relentless pressure on terrorists, bandits, separatists, and other criminal groups until peace and stability are fully restored across all regions of the country. The operations serve as a testament to the Nigerian Army's commitment to safeguarding farmers and communities from the threat of terrorism and other criminal activities.
