Michigan Gaming Control Board raids illegal gambling den in Flint

Investigators seized 48 computers from a Flint Arcade store in Flint, Michigan, on Wednesday. The location is suspected of operating slot machine-type games. Police also seized two slot machines and $13,260 in cash.

The search was authorized by a court order and was conducted by the Michigan Attorney General's Office, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), the Michigan State Police, the Genesee County Sheriff's Office and the Flint Police Department.

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said in-store casinos and illegal gambling pose significant social and economic risks to communities. They can attract criminal activity and divert customers away from legitimate businesses that contribute positively to the local economy.

"Importantly, stopping such operations prevents customers from falling victim to fraudulent schemes and protects them from potential harm," Williams said in a recent public statement.

Current operators may be subject to criminal charges and/or fines.

Location Raid History

The same location was previously searched on August 18, 2022 under the name "Cellular Vault". It subsequently closed and was replaced by the Flint Arcade.

As part of a separate raid last August, the MGCB targeted another Flint branch called Cellular Bank, seizing 11 stand-alone slot machines and 13 computers. Authorities seized approximately $7,500 in cash and business documents from Cellular's bank and vault.

On April 27, 2022, Michigan investigators discovered suspected gambling dens at the State Road Spot in Davidson and the Bristol Spot in Burton. They seized 100 devices, $29,200 in cash and various gift cards. Offenders involved face criminal charges and/or fines

The locations were identified as Davidson's State Highway Location and Burton's Bristol Location.
