DHL and Evri Merge to Create UK's Pre-eminent Parcel Delivery Group

In a significant move for the parcel delivery industry, DHL Group and Evri have announced a partnership that will see DHL taking a minority stake in Evri. This merger, cleared by regulators, aims to create a one-stop shop for all customers' parcel needs in the UK.

Evri, which was acquired by US investment group Apollo last year for £2.7bn, will remain majority owned by Apollo-managed funds. The new group will benefit from DHL's extensive eCommerce network in Europe, the US, and selected Asian markets, resulting in faster transit times across the world.

Martijn de Lange, CEO of Evri, expressed his excitement about the merger, stating that it will create the pre-eminent parcel delivery group in the UK. De Lange will lead the new group in the UK, with Stu Hill becoming the MD of Evri's Premium DHL network business.

Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL eCommerce, emphasized the partnership's focus on top service quality, reliability, and sustainability. By embracing technology and innovation, the merged group is well-positioned to further improve its reliable services and the customer experience.

The merged business is expected to deliver 1 billion parcels and 1 billion business letters annually. It will also include an expanded international capability for inbound and outbound parcels. Evri will retain its core branding, with DHL eCommerce in the UK operating under Evri Premium.

Alex van Hoek, Evri chairman and Apollo partner, expressed excitement about welcoming DHL as a strategic partner and shareholder. Apollo Capital Management wants to keep the majority stake in Evri after the merger with DHL's UK eCommerce business.

The partnership aims to offer more efficient, far-reaching, and innovative solutions to keep up with the fast-paced eCommerce market. The merger will further expand Evri's access into the European and global eCommerce markets. The new group will have an expanded international capability for inbound and outbound parcels, making it a powerful player in the global parcel delivery industry.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, a new investor is seeking to block the liquidation of North East tech firm Zytronic. While not directly related to the DHL-Evri merger, this news provides additional context about the dynamic tech and investment landscape in the UK.

In conclusion, the merger between DHL and Evri is set to revolutionize the parcel delivery industry in the UK and beyond. With a focus on service quality, reliability, and sustainability, the new group is poised to offer customers a one-stop shop for all their parcel needs, delivering billions of parcels and business letters annually.
