Merced College collaborates with Arizona State University on unique tuition initiative
In an exciting development for students at Merced College, a new partnership has been established with Arizona State University (ASU). This collaboration offers a remote learning option, providing local talent with the opportunity to continue their education without leaving home.
The California Community College Achievement Plan, a partnership between ASU and select California community colleges including Merced College, aims to make higher education more accessible and affordable. Vice President of Student Services, Mike McCandless, believes this new pathway hits the transfer principle straight on the head.
Students can now choose from over 180 online undergraduate degree programs through this partnership. Eligible Merced College students and alumni can save up to 22% on tuition through the California Community College Achievement Plan. Any student who applies to ASU's online programs will automatically be considered for the tuition discount.
Ernesto Hernandez, Director of the Career & Transfer Center, emphasised the focus on affordability in the new pathway. He also mentioned that the college already offers a seamless transfer path to ASU, and this new partnership takes it a step further. McCandless stated that the partnership offers additional pathways and opportunities for students to transfer.
The new partnership supports the college's mission and provides a clear, affordable path for students to continue their education. Those interested in learning more about the new partnership can visit the Career and Transfer Center at Merced College.
The prestige of ASU, combined with the affordability and convenience of staying at home, make this new partnership an appealing option for many.
