Mende's Mayor welcomed Consul General Akdevelioğlu from Turkey

In the heart of Germany, Nagihan İlknur Akdevelioğlu, the Consul General of Turkey, is working diligently to foster stronger relationships between Frankfurt am Main and Fatih, a district on the European side of Istanbul.

Born in Bursa in 1978, Akdevelioğlu embarked on her academic journey at Ankara University, where she studied political science, specialising in international relations. Her passion for understanding global dynamics led her to pursue a master's degree in European studies at Boğaziçi University.

Before joining the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Akdevelioğlu began her career in the financial sector in 2002, working at a private bank's supervisory authority. Her experience in the financial world has undoubtedly provided a unique perspective in her current role.

Akdevelioğlu's career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs began in 2006, and her dedication and hard work eventually led to her appointment as Consul General in Frankfurt. Since assuming her position on August 20, 2024, she has been committed to enhancing the already strong ties between the two sister cities.

The twinning between Wiesbaden and Fatih dates back to 2012, and since then, numerous study and educational trips have taken place between the two cities. The exchange of students and educators has been a significant contributor to the cultural understanding and friendship between the two communities.

Moreover, the twin cities maintain an intense exchange of their schools, ensuring that the younger generations have the opportunity to learn about each other's cultures and traditions. This educational exchange is particularly important given that more than 16,000 people with Turkish roots live in Wiesbaden.

Recent conversations between Akdevelioğlu and local authorities served to maintain good relations and discuss the state of German-Turkish economic relations. The discussions aimed to identify potential areas of collaboration and strengthen the economic ties between the two cities.

The twinning association, established immediately after the proclamation of the twinning between Wiesbaden and Fatih, continues to play a crucial role in facilitating these interactions and fostering a spirit of friendship and understanding between the two cities.

As the Consul General of Turkey in Frankfurt, Nagihan İlknur Akdevelioğlu is dedicated to strengthening the bonds between the two sister cities and promoting cultural exchange and economic cooperation. Her background in political science, international relations, and European studies, coupled with her experience in the financial sector and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, makes her uniquely qualified for this role.
