Member States' worker safety laws regarding chemical exposure protection have yet to be harmonized through the Commission's proposed directive.
In the early hours of Tuesday, September 8, 2025, a significant fire broke out in a thatched-roof house located on Lensahner Straße in the Hansühn district of Wangels, Germany.
According to the Police Directorate Lübeck, the fire was reported around 3:15 AM. Upon arrival, the police found the roof of the house already ablaze. The Lensahner Straße was immediately closed for firefighting operations.
The fire department responded to extinguish the fire, involving volunteer fire departments from nearby towns. A detour was set up during the operations, and the road was reopened at around 09:30 AM.
The Criminal Police in Oldenburg secured the scene of the fire, and investigations are ongoing to determine if the fire is connected to other incidents. The current cause of the fire remains unknown.
The estimated damage to the building is approximately 800,000 EUR. No one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
