Melbourne Millions debuts as the city’s new high-stakes poker showdown

A new poker series has arrived in Melbourne, filling the gap left by the long-running Aussie Millions. The Melbourne Millions, hosted by PlayLive poker room, launched in January with a packed schedule and strong player interest. Just a 15-minute walk from Crown Casino, the event is already drawing large crowds.

The Melbourne Millions was created to replace the Aussie Millions, which will not return until 2026 after a six-year absence. PlayLive, a poker room described as 'created by players, for players,' opened in April and quickly gained popularity. Its owners include well-known players Alex Foxen, Jeremy Ausmus, Eric Baldwin, and Abby Merk, alongside co-founders Josh Abady and Bridges Robinson Roe.

The series features several standout tournaments. The $1,500 Main Event runs from January 25 to February 7 and comes with a $500,000 prize guarantee. Other key events include the $5,000 High Roller on January 26 and the $1,150 Mega Mystery Bounty on January 28. Daily satellites for the series start at just $90, making entry more accessible. For those unable to attend in person, live streams of the action are available on the PlayLive YouTube channel. Full details, including the complete schedule and weekly events, can be found on the PlayLive website.

The Melbourne Millions has successfully stepped in as a major poker event in the city. With affordable buy-ins, high-profile tournaments, and easy access to live coverage, it offers multiple ways for players to get involved. The series runs until early February, giving poker fans plenty of opportunities to compete.
