Medvedev clinches victory in Shanghai tournament
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, currently ranked third in the world, continued his winning streak in the Shanghai Masters tournament on October 7th. The 1/16 finals match against Chilean Christian Garin, ranked 98th in the ATP world rankings, was played indoors due to weather conditions and lasted 92 minutes.
The game saw Medvedev dominate from the start, winning eight consecutive games to take a commanding 6-0, 4-1 lead. Garin managed to win two games before Medvedev closed out the match with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Medvedev served seven aces during the match, while Garin managed four. However, it was Medvedev's six double faults compared to Garin's three that seemed to cost the Chilean player dearly.
The 1/16 finals match was the first meeting between Medvedev and his next opponent, unranked Sebastian Korda. Korda will be looking to cause an upset when they face off on October 8th, with the match starting at 07:30 Moscow time.
Despite Korda's lack of ranking, Medvedev will be wary of the young American's potential. Medvedev has already shown his ability to win matches convincingly, having won all of his previous matches in the Shanghai tournament.
However, there is no specific information available about who is currently placing global sports bets on tennis in Moscow for the upcoming match between Medvedev and Korda. The weather conditions for the match are also not yet known.
Regardless, Medvedev will be confident of his chances, having won eight consecutive games against Garin and serving more aces than his opponent. The Russian will be looking to continue his impressive form and secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters.
