MDR's broadcasting council unveils the 17th iteration of the children's audio game award
The Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) Broadcasting Council is inviting boys and girls from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia to apply for the 17th Children's Radio Play Award, scheduled for 2025.
The competition, which is open to radio plays that uniquely convey the theme of human dignity to children and young people, is divided into two evaluation stages. A children's jury and a committee will determine the best entries.
The selected children's jury, yet to be publicly disclosed, will evaluate all radio plays submitted for the competition. These submissions, along with applications for the children's jury, should be sent to the MDR Gremienbüro in Leipzig by the deadlines specified.
Boys and girls aged between eight and 15 can apply for the children's jury by 30 September 2025. The deadline for radio play submissions is 31 October 2025.
All submissions must not exceed a length of 60 minutes. A good motivational letter can be an advantage for selection in the children's jury. Further rules of the competition can be found on the MDR website or requested from the MDR Gremienbüro.
Radio plays produced after 2024 are eligible for submission. The award can be divided among a maximum of three contributions, each endowed with 6,000 euros, sponsored by the members of the MDR Broadcasting Council.
The children's jury will have the opportunity to experience the award ceremony live on site. The ceremony is expected to take place at the Leipzig Book Fair 2026.
It's important to note that the children's jury's decisions are part of determining the winners of the MDR Broadcasting Council's Children's Radio Play Award. Sandrina Sperlich is associated with this award.
The evaluation process for the children's jury is separate from the evaluation by the committee. Applications for the children's jury will be selected if there are more applications than available places.
For more information, please visit the MDR website or contact the MDR Gremienbüro. Let your creative juices flow and submit your radio play and application for the children's jury today!
