The Dutch Grand Prix qualifying session at Zandvoort was filled with drama and surprises, with Oscar Piastri securing a sensational pole position.

The weather was dry, with temperatures of 21°C in the air and 34°C on the track surface, and a strong wind.

In the opening session, Q1, McLaren quickly set the pace. The Ferraris, Tsunoda, and both Haas drivers failed to make it into the top ten with their first set of tires. Lance Stroll crashed, causing him to be unable to continue in the qualifying. This was Stroll's second crash of the weekend, and he will start from the back.

Nico Hülkenberg, Franco Colapinto, and Kimi Antonelli were amongst those eliminated in Q1, finishing in eleventh and twelfth places respectively. However, Gabriel Bortoleto scraped through by a few hundredths.

In Q2, Aston Martin couldn't capitalize on their promising practice performances. Fernando Alonso failed to improve his position, finishing in P11.

The second session saw both Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, scrape through to Q3 with their first timed lap in P7 and P9 respectively.

The final session, Q3, was intense. Oscar Piastri clinched pole position with a time of 1:08.662, just edging out Lando Norris who finished in second place, 0.012 seconds behind.

Isack Hadjar had a stunning performance, securing a place in the second row in P4, surprising many with his speed. Max Verstappen qualified in fifth place, behind his teammate Hadjar. Carlos Sainz finished Q3 in P7, while Liam Lawson qualified in ninth place, ahead of Hadjar.

The final grid positions were rounded out by Russell in sixth, Leclerc in seventh, and Hamilton in eighth. The Dutch GP promises to be an exciting race with Piastri starting in pole position and Hadjar's strong qualifying performance.
