Mazak Honored with NKY Community Award for 50 Years of Local Impact
Mazak Corporation has received the NKY Community Award from the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. The honour recognises the company's long-standing contributions to local growth and sustainability. Based in Japan, Mazak has operated in Florence for half a century, expanding its presence and workforce over time.
The company first opened its Kentucky facility in 1974. Over 50 years, the Mazak iSMART Factory in Florence has grown to 20 times its original size. Today, it employs more than 600 people and manufactures over 100 machine tool models alongside 70 machining solutions.
Mazak also collaborates with nearby schools and training programmes to attract skilled workers. These partnerships aim to build a stronger local workforce while supporting education. Brent Cooper, president and CEO of the NKY Chamber, highlighted the firm's dedication to sustainability and community development during the award presentation. The NKY Community Award, sponsored by First National Bank of Kentucky, was introduced in 2022.
