Max Burney falls just short in partypoker Tour Sheffield's £500 Main Event

The £500 Main Event at the partypoker Tour Sheffield 2026 has concluded with Max Burney finishing in second place. The tournament drew 1,247 players, but Burney's run ended in a crucial hand against Siddharth Sudunagunta. Despite a strong showing, Burney took home £17,120 after a pre-final deal was struck between the remaining players.

The final hand began with Burney opening to 325,000 from the Button. Sudunagunta, in the Big Blind, called to see the flop.

On the flop, Burney made a continuation bet of 200,000. Sudunagunta responded with a raise to 700,000, which Burney called. The action then moved to the turn, where Sudunagunta bet 1,500,000. After a minute of thought, Burney went all in for 5,400,000, and Sudunagunta quickly called.

Burney held A♥6♠, while Sudunagunta revealed 2♠2♣. With Burney drawing dead on the turn, the hand sealed his second-place finish in the event.

Burney's runner-up finish earned him £17,120, secured by an earlier deal among the finalists. The tournament's outcome hinged on the final showdown, where Sudunagunta's pocket pair held firm. The event marked another competitive chapter in the partypoker Tour's 2026 season.
