Mauritius' Lottotech secures elite WLA Level 4 responsible gaming certification for third time
Mauritius' national lottery operator, Lottotech, has once again earned the World Lottery Association's (WLA) highest responsible gaming certification. The company secured Level 4 status for the third time, becoming the first in Africa to reach this milestone. Only 20 of the WLA's 165 global members currently hold this elite distinction.
The WLA Level 4 certification demands strict compliance with responsible gaming standards. Operators must protect vulnerable players, train staff continuously, and support retailers in promoting safe play. They must also adopt ethical communication and establish mechanisms for ongoing improvement.
In October 2025, a record 20 lotteries worldwide achieved Responsible Gaming certification, reflecting a growing industry focus on player protection. Since 2024, the WLA has required all members to reach at least Level 2 certification, raising baseline standards across the sector. Luca Esposito Poleo, the WLA's Executive Director, commended Lottotech for its long-term commitment to responsible gambling. Moorghen Veeramootoo, Lottotech's CEO, attributed the success to teamwork and partnerships. The company's repeated Level 4 achievements place it among the most responsible gaming operators globally.
Lottotech's latest certification reinforces its position as a leader in responsible gaming. The recognition comes as the industry faces increasing scrutiny over its social impact. With fewer than 20 operators worldwide maintaining Level 4 status, the achievement remains rare and significant.
