Over the weekend of August 22-23, a drug-sniffing dog discovered sedatives hidden in a basement shaft in Dortmund's North End, leading to further investigations.

On Saturday evening, around 250 vehicles from the 'Wall scene' were observed on the Wallring. This prompted the Dortmund police to set up a checkpoint on the outer wall of the Wallring between 23:30 and 01:00. During this period, the police checked 72 drivers, resulting in 39 fines and eight administrative offense proceedings.

The Dortmund police's efforts to combat crime and traffic offenses continued throughout the week. On Tuesday, August 26, civil police officers observed apparent drug dealing at the North exit of Dortmund's main station. In the city garden, a 38-year-old was found with a unit of cocaine. Another person with an outstanding warrant was arrested during the same operation, aimed at increasing public safety and preventing crime and traffic violations.

On Wednesday, August 27, another individual carrying a knife was checked in the area of Café Kick, leading to a criminal proceeding. A check for a knife-carrying ban according to Dortmund’s knife concept is being conducted.

Throughout the period from August 22-27, the Dortmund police conducted checks on 311 people and 87 vehicles. As a result, 146 bans were issued, and 16 criminal complaints were filed. Another individual was found with sedatives, suggesting drug dealing, resulting in an investigation. After subsequent checks, 15 units of marijuana and cash were secured from a dealer.

The Dortmund police continues its presence measures to ensure a strengthened sense of security among the population. The preventive measures taken by the police are proving effective, with 72 drivers being inspected during the checks, and numerous bans and fines being issued. The Dortmund police remains committed to maintaining a safe and secure city for its residents and visitors.
