In the heart of Hahnerberg, a significant incident unfolded yesterday when a fire broke out in a company's hardening pit, located between Theishahner Street and Korzerter Street. The exact company responsible for the fire remains undisclosed.

The blaze, which started around 12 pm, quickly spread, engulfing the hardening pit and eventually reaching the roof structure and roof. A visible smoke column rose high into the sky, causing concern among local residents and commuters.

Upon learning of the incident, the voluntary fire brigade Hahnerberg sprang into action, launching an immediate attack to prevent the fire from spreading to other hall areas. They were joined by 50 personnel from the professional fire brigade and the voluntary fire brigades of Hahnerberg and Cronenberg.

The firefighting efforts proved challenging due to the need to locate any remaining hotspots. To ensure the safety of all involved, the intermediate ceiling must be dismantled to fully extinguish the fire.

Thankfully, the two employees who were initially suspected of having inhaled smoke were examined on site by the rescue service but did not require hospital treatment.

As a result of the road closure, traffic in the area has been significantly affected. Hahnerberger Street is fully closed between Theishahner Street and Korzerter Street, causing congestion. Buses operated by our city's works are ending at the South School Center, and there is currently no bus service between South School Center and Hahnerberg-Mastweg.

To help commuters navigate the disrupted traffic, WSW has set up a shuttle service from Cronenberg to Mastweg.

The criminal police, the labor protection authority, and other relevant authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. The extent of the property damage cannot yet be determined.

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. Stay safe, Hahnerberg.
